Any present or former JETs are welcome to participate in JETAAWJ by joining below. JET Alumni members are eligible to vote on Chapter issues as primary members. Honorary members who may not have been a JET, but have announcements of relevance to JETAAWJ members should contact wj@jetaa.jp to explain their interest in joining. For example, administrators of translator’s or educator’s associations are encouraged to join, even if they were not JETs. This Chapter’s geographic area includes Aichi, Gifu, Fukui and all of Japan’s prefectures to the west of those prefectures.

To join, please complete a profile on LinkedIn. By joining LinkedIn, you will also facilitate membership in several other JET groups, as well as other networking opportunities.

The LinkedIn group is where you will receive monthly JETAAWJ news and be able to raise questions, issues or utilize the network in other ways.

As you may realize, one of the advantages of LinkedIn is clicking on an activity, group, employer or educational institution, and immediately finding others with the identical listing. In order to be able to take advantage of this benefit, we strongly encourage you to set up your JET employment profile as follows:

1. Company Name:

You should use the entry that automatically appears in the drop down choices as you type (without quotes) “Japan Exchange and Teaching Program(me) (JET)”

2. Title:

Please enter "Assistant Language Teacher (ALT)" or "Coordinator for International Relations (CIR)" or “Sports Exchange Advisors (SEA)” as appropriate. Please do not abbreviate other than within the parentheses.

3. Indicate the time of your employment.

4. Description area

In the description, please indicate who paid you; for example, your board of education. If the town or prefecture name is not included in the board of education name, please also indicate that in the description so other JETs from your same town or prefecture can find you. Also in the description, you are welcome to add your school names, your responsibilities, or any other information you would like.
